Today, the clouds played in wispy tufts, thickening and threatening. Teasing, really. Every time Finn and I stepped outside, they’d dissipate into heat-soaked sky. We tried to walk uphill, but it was too hot for him, so instead he played in the creek while I knelt and looked at the water bugs dancing. Finn came, almost when I called. And we wandered back to the car as the clouds again converged. Later, as he laid on the rug at my feet, it was this flicker that reminded me, the only way out is through.
